I'M A VICTIM OF MIDLAND FUNDING

I was reading your article and I am also a victim of Midland Funding LLC. In July of 2010 a broward sheriff deputy came to my house and notified me that they have an order to gain possession of my 2006 Lexus IS 350 as collateral for a debt They claim I owe Midland Funding. The sheriff stated that the only way I can keep my car is if I write them a check for $20,000. Mind you I have never heard of this company. When I called the number the officer gave me and a representative­ there stated that I had a $20,000 debt from a company called house hold finance. I did in fact have a loan with house hold finance but it was paid in full December 5, 2000. I could not understand how they could send an officer to confiscate my vehicle for a loan that has already been recorded as paid in full. When I tried to explain this to Midland they stated that it was not their problem and that if I wanted to keep my car I would have to pay a minimum of $20,000 that day. I refused to make the payment and as a result they confiscated my car. That was very hard for me because my son had originally purchased that car three months before he passed away at 19 years of age from cancer. He never got a chance to have a child so the car had a sentimental value to me. When they confiscated the Lexus it only had 6,000 miles. A few months later I was notified that it was sold at auction to satisfy a zombie debt. To add insult to injury, the other day I received a letter stating that they were planning to confiscate my 2008 Toyota yaris to satisfy the same debt. I do not know what else to do as I have been fighting this case for the past two years to no avail. My case# COSO 08-2352-61 South Satellite County Court Hollywood, FL
