| This is what a Smart car aspires to be ... but with more charm and a huge amount of interior space, a trunk and a rear seat. This is the legendary Citroen 2CV in "Club" trim. Our 2CV was featured in a recent episode of "White Collar". A rare attention grabber that also happens to be just as ideally suited for use as a city car as it was when it first appeared in 1947. Most parts on this Citroen 2CV Club are interchangeable with the earliest models. Designed in the 1930s, the Citroen 2CV was way ahead of its time. Front wheel drive, fully independent suspension, huge open convertible top, easily removable rear seats (no tools required), a highly efficient air-cooled all aluminum 602 cc twin cylinder engine so finely machined that it requires no head gasket. A tune-up requires two spark plugs, a wrench and maybe ten minutes. Top speed 76 mph. Virtually indestructible. Manufactured nearly unchanged for forty-three years, spare parts available and cheap. Fenders, doors, hood and trunk come off with one simple wrench, screw driver or no tools at all.Our 2CV has the optional custom fitted terrycloth seat covers protecting the perfect original upholstery also shown in these photos. This 2CV Club attracts constant and friendly attention from pedestrians and other drivers alike in New York City, a place where they've seen everything. More attention bang-for-the-buck than Ferrari, Maserati, Rolls Royce or Maybach. It is available only because the owner is moving back to Europe (where she will have another 2CV). Only serious offers from private buyers please. |
